BMA renews Acrow contract for $60m

Access and rigging solutions provider MI Scaffold has secured a three-year contract extension with BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) and its Queensland coal operations.

MI Scaffold, a subsidiary of integrated construction systems provider Acrow, has worked with BMA for 10 years.

Cementing this strong working relationship is a new three-year contract extension that has an additional one-year extension option.

The contract covers BMA’s Bowen Basin coal mines and Hay Point coal terminal located in Mackay, and its scope of works includes the provision of equipment and labour hire to support maintenance and shutdown access work.

The agreement guarantees a baseline revenue of approximately $15 million per annum, equating to $60 million minimum over the contract’s full term. There is also potential to increase the baseline revenue by up to $4 million per annum.

The contract will underpin MI Scaffold’s business over the next four years, representing at least 35 per cent of branch revenue at its minimum value.

“Securing this contract renewal with a blue-chip organisation like BMA is a strong endorsement of Acrow’s, and in this case MI Scaffold’s industrial access service offering,” Acrow chief executive officer Steven Boland said.

“I congratulate our Mackay team for having done a tremendous job in securing what now becomes our single largest contract win for our industrial access business.”

BMA operates five mines in the Bowen Basin of Queensland: Goonyella Riverside, Broadmeadow, Peak Downs, Saraji and Caval Ridge. It also owns and operates the Hay Point coal terminal.
