New leader joins ExxonMobil PNG

Dinesh Sivasamboo has been appointed as chairman and managing director of ExxonMobil PNG.

Dinesh Sivasamboo has been appointed as chairman and managing director of ExxonMobil PNG.

Sivasamboo joins ExxonMobil PNG from ExxonMobil Malaysia where he served as country manager and president. Prior to that role, he served as lead country manager and managing director for ExxonMobil Kazakhstan.

The titles of chairman and managing director are not the first Sivasamboo has held at ExxonMobil PNG, having served as executive director from 2016–2019.

All together, Sivasamboo has over 30 years experience working with ExxonMobil, making him a great fit for the new role.

“I am honoured to be returning to PNG as chairman and managing director of ExxonMobil PNG,” he said. “The PNG LNG Project has – through the strength of its partnerships – achieved so much during its first decade.

“I look forward to both leading it into its second decade, as well as building upon its success to help deliver the next phase of LNG (liquified natural gas) projects for this country.”

Sivasamboo was on-hand when ExxonMobil PNG handed over seven newly built educational infrastructure projects valued at almost PGK2 million ($761.1 million) to the communities of Lealea, Papa, Boera and Porebada, in Central Province during April.

“At ExxonMobil, we believe that education drives social and economic development and improves living standards, which is why it has been a long-standing community investment focus area for us,” Sivasamboo said.

“A well-structured learning environment, infused with the right resources and a positive atmosphere, can be transformative for both students and staff. Infrastructure investments like these clearly demonstrate our partnership with – and ongoing commitment to – PNG and its people.”
