Australia opens Tender 4 for 6 GW of renewable energy projects

Australia has launched registration for Tender 4 of its Capacity Investment Scheme that seeks six gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy generation capacity in the National Electricity Market.

In a statement, the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water said Stage A for project bids will open on 13 December 2024. Proponents will have until 18 February 2025 to submit project bids for this tender.

Of the total allocation this tender, New South Wales received 2.2 GW, South Australia received 0.3 GW, Victoria received 1.4 GW, and Tasmania received 0.3 GW. The remaining 1.8 GW were unallocated.

This round of bidding is part of a series of competitive tenders that aims to deliver 32 GW of clean energy capacity by 2030.
