Australia’s sales of oil products were higher on the month and on the year in July, according to Australian Petroleum Statistics (APS) data, but imports of gasoline and jet fuel were lower on the year
- Diesel imports were slightly down but gasoline and jet fuel experienced the sharpest falls in import volumes on the year.
- Both diesel and gasoline import volumes are down compared with year-earlier levels for the first seven months of 2025, but jet fuel remains higher on the year.
- Total product sales were 1.08mn b/d in July, well above year-earlier levels but are slightly behind 2024’s year-to-date figure.
- Refinery production is also down on the year-to-date figure for 2024, with Australian refiner and fuel marketer Viva Energy’s 120,000 b/d Geelong refinery undergoing a turnaround in the present quarter, but will not require further major works until 2030, Viva has said.
