The PV DRILLING IX rig starts her journey to Vietnam

The PV DRILLING IX Rig departed to Rotterdam, Netherland

On the morning of October 30th, 2025, the PV DRILLING IX Jack-up rig of PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Service Corporation (PV Drilling) has left Esbjerg port, Denmark by wet tow to Rotterdam port, Netherlands, officially started the journey back to Vietnam. This is an important milestone marking the completion of the first phase of the PV DRILLING IX rig reactivation plan managed by PV Drilling’s technical team in Denmark since September 2025.

Over the past month, PV DRILLING IX has inspected, operated and trialed the important equipment to meet ABS inspection requirements such as safety equipment, crane systems, engines, generators and jacking systems. The initial reactivation was carried out in schedule with plans to ensure safety and quality. All critical technical elements met the requirements, creating the basis for the rig to return to normal operation after maintenance and reactivation in Europe.

According to the plan, the PV DRILLING IX rig will arrive at Rotterdam port on November 3, 2025, to transfer to a heavy lift vessel and move by dry tow to Vietnam. The end of December 2025, the rig shall arrive at a Vietnamese for the second phase of reactivate before officially execution the first drilling campaign in April 2026, contributing to enhance drilling capacity of PV Drilling in the region.
