FPSO specialist opens new centre in India

Japanese floating production, storage and offloading specialist Modec is looking to recruit even more engineers and industry professionals as it continues to expand, with a new centre opening in India to support its global operations.

“We’re pleased to mark the soft opening of our Global Capability Center in Bengaluru — a joint venture between Offshore Frontier Solutions (OFS), a Modec Group company in Singapore and Toyo Engineering India,” Modec said in a LinkedIn post.

OFS India will strengthen Modec’s engineering and procurement capabilities, supporting front-end and detailed engineering for floater topsides. This milestone reinforces the company’s commitment to expanding its global engineering and procurement capabilities, following the recent launch of its execution centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Japanese FPSO specialist said on Wednesday.

The soft opening of Modec’s Bengaluru centre came one week before the formal launch of its KL hub. The contractor to date has employed nearly 200 Malaysian professionals, with plans to quadruple its local workforce to more than 800 employees in the coming years.
