European Energy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Apple to deliver renewable electricity from its Lancaster solar project in Victoria, marking a step forward for clean energy manufacturing and investment in Australia.

In a news release, European Energy said the 108 MW(dc) Lancaster solar park, currently under construction, is expected to begin supplying power to the grid next year. Electricity generated from the site will support Apple’s clean energy commitments in the country.

“This project reflects the pace at which renewable energy development is moving in Australia,” said Catriona McLeod, European Energy’s Country Manager for Australia.

“There is strong demand for clean energy, and partnerships like this help bring new capacity online. The focus is on projects that integrate effectively with the Australian energy system and provide long-term value for the regions where they are located.”

European Energy described Australia as a priority market, citing favourable project conditions and growing opportunities for large-scale solar, wind, and battery storage manufacturing and deployment.

The company said it continues to expand its local presence through collaborations with regional communities and industry partners.

According to European Energy, long-term supply agreements with major corporations such as Apple play a key role in advancing renewable energy projects. Apple aims to bring more than one million megawatt-hours of new renewable electricity online annually in Australia before 2030.

“Long-term agreements with major energy consumers play a constructive role in enabling renewable energy projects,” said Jens Peter Zink, Executive Vice President at European Energy.

“When companies make commitments of this nature, it supports investment decisions and brings new generation capacity forward. These partnerships connect demand with new clean supply and help advance the wider energy transition.”
